How Khirbhawani Temple came into existence

There are many stories about the same but the real story goes as under. It is being said that when Ravana was killed at the hands of Lord Rama Goddess Bhawani\Sharika directed Lord Hanuman to take her along with the Nagas (Springs) to the Satisar(the present Kashmir valley)and it is being said that Lord Hanuman obeyed and carried the Godess on her shoulders and enterd this great valley and on Goddesses direction selected this place and Goddess entered into this spring which becomes the abode of Godess Ragnya\Sharika.Thus Goddess Is present in this holy spring with all other forms that is Goddess Laxmi,Goddess Sarsawati and Goddess Kali and that is why the entire Kashmir valley is so pious, peacefuland sacred. No matter that present condition of Valley has detoriated as demons have always tried to wipe off the peace but always their ill desires have been vanished by the Goddess Sharika\Ragnya\Zyestha(when they become one they become Trinity which Gives Rise to Goddess Durga and it is sure that no demon will survive and all has to die at the hands of Goddess. This time is coming nearer and we will see that Kashmir valley will return to its peace as soon as its forecasted time comes which is coming near.

It is said that one pure pious Brahmin namely Krishna Pandit the great devotee of Shakti who worshiped the Goddess Sharika daily had an vision one night were he was being told to proceed towards the Tulmula Village(This village has got its name from the Mulberry Branch(Tul in Kashmiri language) as he being the most dedicated follower of Goddess has been chosen as the first person to have his darshnas\glimpse in her new abode which is amidst the holy spring and it is through him only that whole world will come to know about Godess Ragnya\Tripurasundari.This village at that time was submersed in water and only way of transportation was use of boats only to reach any destination. This pious Brahmin enquired about the location were this vision told him that all the arrangements will be done just be ready by tomorrow morning to head for this destination. He was being told to reach Shadipora ghat which is on the banks of Vyeth River (Jhelum it present name. Its source is in the Verinaag spring which is surrounded by beautiful mountains and has a very well maintained and decorated garden which contains numerous kinds of flowers. The person who comes here feels sense of eternal calm) and from were he will be guided by snake in reaching the final destination that is the abode of Mother Ragnya Bhagwati\Godess

In the early morning this Pious Brahmin left his home and headed towards the ghat at shadipora and to his surprise found that one boat was waiting and ready to carry him to its desired destination and to his utter surprise also saw that one snake was swimming just side by side with the boat which was heading slowly through the sacred water of Vyeth river (River Jhelum its present name).Pt Krishn Pandit internally bowed his head towards this Great,Sacred and Soft hearted mother Goddess Ragnya and began to chant her name and thanked her for choosing him to be his first devotee to have her First Darshna\Glimpse at her new place.

As the boat reaches the bank of the river Vyeth (Jhelum) he got down off the boat were there was some marshy and dry land. The snake was continuously guiding the Krishn pandit and suddenly he saw some small spring which has one mulberry tree (Tul kul in Kashmiri) From this mulberry tree the village Tullumulla came into existence were the river Vyeth(Jhelum) is flowing in full swing through its adjoining areas and purifying and making the soil fertile from were it passes. The snake which was guiding the Krishn Pandit jumped into this spring and suddenly disappeared thus giving indication to Krishn pandit that this is the final destination and abode of Godess Ragnya which is amidst this holy spring.

After this Krishn pandit began to recite the sacred chants from the sacred book of Kashmiri pandits (Panchastavi which contains the sacred verses dedicated to Shakti which mentions and praises the various form of Goddess) and side by side starting pouring the Milk and Khir (which is made of combination of sugar, milk and rice ) into this holy spring as an offering to this great and loving mother who removes our all sins and fears and keeps us under her thy lotus feet and always cares for us.She is the supreme mother who removes all the sufferings from her devotees and gives them her wisdom and courage to face all the odds.Since Milk and this Khir is offerd to the holy mother it attained the famous name of (Khirbhawani) which means the sweet and caring mother.

The Historic Temple of Khir Bhawani was built by Maharaja Pratap Singh in 1912 & later renovated by Maharaja Hari Singh as initially it was totally open and as the time passed this area was developed and has attained the present form. There is also the number of chinar trees in its vicinity which is adding to its beauty.

Also it is to be mentioned that this sacred spring changes color four times a year. This changing of color forecasts the future happenings in the entire valley\world. In Mid 90’s when the terrorism has started and was on its peak in Kashmir its color has changed into black indicating the coming times will be very harsh for the valley\India which we all are aware as Kashmir has gone through one of its vast turmoil. This color was up to 2001 and after which it was seen that this color got changed to natural green which indicated that peace will return back but slowly and gradually which we are experiencing and complete normalcy as forecasted by our gurus will come only after 2012 till then small mishappenings will continue to take place but will wipe off gradually.

Let the blessings of Goddess Sharika\Ragnya\Zyestha be bestowed on all of us and show us the right path and make this world happier and prosperous place to live in and spreading the message of peace and love though out the globe as hatred will not give us any thing but only will wipe of our own existence. Please think for what we have come into this world. Have we taken the birth to shed bloodshed of our brethren or we are here to help our brethren in case same is needed. Think and act.
