Pt Zind Kaul, lovingly known as Masterji was among one of the seers who saw the dawn of modern India.Being a great Yogi and a sadhak, Masterji was a great poet too. In his intial years he wrote in urdu under the name of "sabit" and began to be recognised by this name. His first volume was published in urdu titled "Dewan-I-Sabit".He also wrote in Kashmiri namely "Sumran" which has english translation in it.This made it more interesting and attractive. This book got him "Sahitya accademy award".

From his poetry Masterji seems to be a Nirgunvadi like "Mata Lal Ded",he believed in it and followed his convection to the most. And due to this he was very close to "Mata lal ded's" thought, then the other's contemprories.

Master Zind Kaul was born in 1884 in Srinagar. He braved the poverty in his childhood and in his early youth. He was found of poetry in his early years. He started writing at the age of 19.Inspite of writing in urdu and Kashmiri,He also wrote in hindi,"Patr Pushp" was published, but unfortunately this book is not available now.

Masterji died in 1965.
